Guys, I made it! I made it 8 whole weeks without being so embarrassed of the crap I’ve been eating that I gave up. In fact, I’ve even tried some new things, knowing failure was a possibility. So yay for the Internet!
Sunday: Worse than usual
So after working out, I was too lazy to make dinner. And not hungry, from all the muscle-destroying. The b/f had takeout, and I had leftover cornbread. It was delicious cornbread, with queso fresco on top! But I forgot to take a picture. I hope you can forgive me!
Monday: Yellow LOs
More dirty rice, more salad, more sriracha, more bell peppers. Less homemade salad dressing, but this was a winning combination once again.
Notes: Still good. I could eat some kind of rice-meat combo every day if I had to.
.
Tuesday: Anniversary at Vellum!
It was my fourth anniversary today. It was also my boyfriend’s fourth anniversary–what a coincidence! So we went to dinner at the newest fancy restaurant in Ann Arbor—Vellum.
For dinner, I had lamb shoulder with crispy brussel sprouts and a creamy orange sauce, which was very good, although a bit fattier than I had expected (which is probably because I’d never had lamb shoulder before). The b/f had salmon very similar to the picture on their Facebook page. Portion sizes were not as overzealous as the typical American restaurant.
Notes: I would say my favorite part about this experience is that every dish, or side, had one standout flavor, as opposed to the common medley of subtle flavors. Their sauces were good, and all very distinct. While it was expensive, I’d say definitely a good place for special occasions.

Wednesday: Same lazy, new flavor
I decided after last week that I should stop buying freezer bags of Bertolli’s Chicken Florentine, since it was boring to continue photographing. So this week I went with soup. As seen above.
Notes: Like their other meals, not half bad. Really salty. But y’know, worth eating. Helps with the hydration for the impending Ultimate.
.
Thursday: Open Enchiladas
Tonight, I made enchiladas filled with… veggies! What? I know, sometimes we can all be vegetarian for a day. Anyway, these turned out great. Flour tortillas lined with collard greens, filled with diced onions, black beans, and spices, topped with cheeeese and more chopped collard greens and bell peppers and MORE cheese. Yup. As amazing as it sounds.
Not pictured: all the delicious things inside, as described.
.
Friday: Amalgam
Sometimes… you have a lot of food in your fridge and you wanna cook it because it’s on the edge of getting stale/spoiled but still has delicious potential. And in this case, it was sausage, collard greens, and cauliflower. So I sautéed them all together with some “General Tso’s” sauce that was in my fridge and tossed them with rice noodles. Fifteen-minute dinner for the win!
.
Saturday: ABC… easy as 1-2-3!
This picture was featured on The Anti Tourist’s blog, and accurately represents the most important thing about Arbor Brewing Company (ABC): the beer. Their food is good, but we went to meet up with friends who were in town for the weekend, and we needed a place with good local beer.
Not pictured: my food. I had a spring green mix salad with Michigan dried cherries, blue cheese, and toasted almonds with a cherry vinaigrette. Delicious
Notes: If you are not from Ann Arbor and you need food or beer recommendations, let me know. I will guide you. Using the force. By which I mean, ten years of experience living here.
